Vintage Looks
Gabriel is a bit of a character who has been in and out of the store for years. Always comes in sporting something he bought years ago from us. He kindly allowed me take his photo and here he wears an R. Newbold hat, Replay Blue Jeans polo and a Duffer jacket.

Altadena Works
We just received these back packs from Altadena Works in the last week. They are a small company based in California and everything is made in the USA.
They main bag is made out of a high quality duck canvas while the straps are military nylon webbing. The leather on the base of the bags is a custom chromexcel from the famous Horween Tannery in Chicago. There are two styles, the teardrop and an old school daypack rucksack.
The Teardrop opens at the top with an additional diagonal zip opening front pocket. The front pocket is suitable for small essentials that you want easy access to while the main compartment is sizable for a day trip or commuting to work. It is large enough to take a 15.5" laptop. There are also a couple of side pockets for keys, water bottles and the like. There is also a leather pull handle at the top of the pack. The duck canvas exterior is water repellent and the internal seams are finished with binding tape. All zips are YKK.
The daypack has a top opening and a good size for traveling light for short trips or just a day out.The top flap contains a small zip pocket on the exterior suitable for storing small ready to hand gadgets like phones, books etc. The main compartment is large enough to accommodate a 17" laptop and a decent amount of gear. There is also a leather pull handle at the top of the pack. The duck canvas exterior is water repellent and the internal seams are finished with binding tape. All zips are YKK.

Spring Aldens
Below are two new special make ups that we have added from Alden this Spring.
The first is the Plain Toe Blucher made up in natural Chromexcel with a reverse split welt, off white stitching antique midsole and waxed outer sole. The natural Chromexcel gives the shoe a great casual feel and breaks all formalness of the style. The waxed outer sole is something off an alden trade mark giving were appropriate and gives the sole more natural flexability. I have seen other producers wax their soles but I am of the impression that it is a bit of an Alden thing.

The second special is the based on the Alden 405 work boot or Indy boot as it has become known due to Harrison Ford and the Indiana Jones movies. The finish on this boot is milkshake suede and also comes with a reverse split welt, midsole and off white stitching on the upper and on the welt. The out sole is natural plantation crepe with a leather toe piece inserted at the front. The comfort and ease of wear with this boot is incredible.

camping and coffee
I really miss a morning espresso when away camping. Fortunately this problem has now been solved due to this new coffee "machine" i received from my wife. Comes in a kit bag which is suitable for picnics but there is a smaller case which slips easily into your ruck-sack for nights away. I used it last week-end when away camping and it makes a great espresso .
