We just received these back packs from Altadena Works in the last week. They are a small company based in California and everything is made in the USA.
They main bag is made out of a high quality duck canvas while the straps are military nylon webbing. The leather on the base of the bags is a custom chromexcel from the famous Horween Tannery in Chicago. There are two styles, the teardrop and an old school daypack rucksack.
The Teardrop opens at the top with an additional diagonal zip opening front pocket. The front pocket is suitable for small essentials that you want easy access to while the main compartment is sizable for a day trip or commuting to work. It is large enough to take a 15.5" laptop. There are also a couple of side pockets for keys, water bottles and the like. There is also a leather pull handle at the top of the pack. The duck canvas exterior is water repellent and the internal seams are finished with binding tape. All zips are YKK.
The daypack has a top opening and a good size for traveling light for short trips or just a day out.The top flap contains a small zip pocket on the exterior suitable for storing small ready to hand gadgets like phones, books etc. The main compartment is large enough to accommodate a 17" laptop and a decent amount of gear.
