Below are two new special make ups that we have added from Alden this Spring.
The first is the Plain Toe Blucher made up in natural Chromexcel with a reverse split welt, off white stitching antique midsole and waxed outer sole. The natural Chromexcel gives the shoe a great casual feel and breaks all formalness of the style. The waxed outer sole is something off an alden trade mark giving were appropriate and gives the sole more natural flexability. I have seen other producers wax their soles but I am of the impression that it is a bit of an Alden thing.
The second special is the based on the Alden 405 work boot or Indy boot as it has become known due to Harrison Ford and the Indiana Jones movies. The finish on this boot is milkshake suede and also comes with a reverse split welt, midsole and off white stitching on the upper and on the welt. The out sole is natural plantation crepe with a leather toe piece inserted at the front. The comfort and ease of wear with this boot is incredible.
We have just received some new "Specials" in from Tricker's in the past few days and we are really pleased with the results. We did not want to try and re-invent the wheel but just add a few quirks to some off our favorite styles. The Super Boot has been one of our most loved styles since we started out with Tricker's many many years ago and hence two new versions.
The Stone suede has a natural barbour welt and double natural sole and a wide trim with what is now our customary orange pull. We have also re-introduced speed hooks this season after many years with out using them. I suppose the popularity of hiking boots at present has brought about this reintroduction. You also get a second pair of laces in off white.
Any ardent Tricker's fan knows the C-Shade Super Boot as Ripon and now that they no longer carry this in stock in 5 fit we decided to make a version of it. We have changed the tongue to orange suede and put on a natural barbour welt and mid sole along with a commando sole. This is also with speed hooks, wide trimmed and with a orange pull.
The Stow is an up-dated version of the boot that we did for Winter 10 but have now used an orange suede tongue and speed hooks and like its fore-runner, it has a wide trim.
The only shoe in so far is a Derby shoe with a twin row off stitching on the toe. This is to keep the feel of the shoe a bit lighter for the spring summer rather than use a full toe cap. To this we have added what now seems like the legendary Vibram morflex sole with a natural barbour welt and also finished it with a wide trim.
Over the next week or so we should receive a Bourton version off the Stow boot along with a Toe capped version off the Super boot in a dark brown Zugged leather. There will also be two chukkas, one with a wedge crepe and the other with the Vibram morflex.
After the fantastic response to the Tan Scotch Grain Stow Boot last season, we decided to do it again with a few slight changes - an orange suede tongue and 3 hooks at the top instead of eyelets.
Secondly we have a beautiful Stone Brown Suede Super Boot with orange pulls, natural double leather sole and 3 top hooks.
Our first 2 collaborations will be online tomorrow morning with more to follow in the coming weeks.
We have been waiting with much anticipation for the arrival of this latest Alden. When we order in this colour of shell cordovan, Alden tell you that it may take up to a year before you receive the shoes. The reason being is that they have to wait until they have enough hide that is totally perfect with out any scar tissue as the lightness of the tanning will not cover any blemishes, where as on the darker colour these blemishes are covered in the tanning process. "Proper cordovan" only comes from the rump of the horse (therefore known as shell cordovan because of the shape of the leather when cut). This means that it can take a while to gather up enough leather that is free from marks such as those caused by the horse snagging it self on barbwire or such.
There is something special in this day and age when you have to be patient and wait for something that is beautiful and it cannot be turned out in vast quantities. It is a true pleasure to have something like this in the store and we look forward to some more "specials" with Alden in the coming spring.
...just through the door this afternoon. All those that have enquired/held over have been contacted and they will be online over the weekend. We also received the red backpack and a leather satchel.
